How do I know when the battery in my security system control panel needs to be replaced?
This back-up battery should be replaced every 3-4 years. Most systems monitor the status of your battery and will bring up a message on the keypad if/when it needs to be replaced.
What does it mean when my keypad has a message that says my battery is low?
Every hour your Atronic system takes a a dynamic test of the battery which is located in the panel. If the battery voltage is too low, than the console will indicate BATTERY LOW. This may happen after a power outage. The battery should recharge within 24 hours of restoral of power to the panel. If it does not, the battery will need to be replaced.

How do I replace my panel battey?
We recommend replacing your backup battery every 3-5 years. If you are on Atronic's maintenance agreement then your battery is tested when we service your system and replaced if needed. Otherwise, you can either set up a service call for us to replace it or you can do it yourself. If you want to replace it yourself, just bring us the old battery and we will sell you a new one, or you can purchase a new battery at Battery Patrol, Battery Plus, Interstate Battery or any other specialty battery place.
To replace: Slip off the red and black wires from the old battery and slide them on the new battery. Once this is done you will likely need to make the system do a battery test before the message clears out, this varies by system so check your manual or call us. It should clear itself normally in 24 hours if you do nothing.
Why is my carbon monoxide detector "beeping?"
Carbon monoxide detector units should be replaced every 4-5 years. When they reach their "end-of-life" cycle they beep once every 6 minutes.
Why are my smoke detectors "beeping?"
If your hardwired smoke detectors are beeping then they are electrician installed devices and their batteries need to be replaced. Atronic Alarms hardwired smoke detectors do not beep because their battery backup is in the panel.
Sometimes Atronic Alarms will install wireless smoke detectors. If they start to beep then that means their batteries are low. Contact the Central Monitoring Station at 913.432.4545 to put your system on "test" mode before you change the batteries. Have your user password ready.
